Can I book for someone I care for?

Yes. You can book an appointment for a family member or someone you care for. The person booking, the patient, and the person paying can all be different people. We'll ask who the patient is and who should receive appointment updates. The patient or their legally authorized representative must provide consent for collection.

What times can I book?

Accepted Answer

You choose a specific appointment time rather than a broad arrival window. Mobile appointments start Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. and 5:00–7:00 p.m., and Saturday, 7:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Those are appointment start times, so a visit that starts at the last listed time finishes afterwards. Mobile appointments do not start at 3 or 4 p.m. on weekdays. Fertility appointments start at 8 a.m. or later. Available times depend on your selected service, and all appointment times are shown in Pacific time.

Can I visit your Portland office?

Yes, for eligible services. Office appointments are by request and use the same start times as mobile visits: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. and 5:00–7:00 p.m., and Saturday, 7:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.. Every office request is reviewed by our staff before any payment or confirmation. We don't accept walk-ins, so book an office time in advance rather than dropping by.

Do you come to my neighborhood?

We visit homes, workplaces, assisted-living communities, care facilities, hotels, and other suitable private locations within our service area. If your location has special access or visitor requirements, please include those details when booking.

Question 5

What services does Stumptown actually provide?

Accepted Answer

We provide mobile blood draws, specimen collection, approved specimen processing and delivery, and certain specialty services. These include PT/INR PLUS fingerstick testing, rapid non-DOT drug screening, SneakPeek Clinical, and prescribed Autologous Serum Tears. The services we provide depend on the collection requirements and our supported capabilities. Contact us if you're unsure whether we can help.

Can you collect for more than one person or more than one service in one visit?

Yes. Travel and appointment-time charges apply once per visit; travel is charged only if the trip goes beyond the included 25 round-trip miles and 30 minutes. Each additional eligible blood-draw patient collected during the same appointment at the same address is $39. Additional services are charged at their own listed price — there is no separate second-service rate. Some specialty services are excluded; see Pricing for details. Your appointment total is shown before payment.

Can I get a same-day appointment?

You can request a same-day appointment online or by phone for an additional $25, subject to availability, once patient services begin on Monday, November 9, 2026. Online requests remain pending until our team confirms that we can accommodate the visit.

Question 8

How is the travel charge calculated?

Accepted Answer

We calculate the round-trip driving distance and travel time from our Portland office to your collection location. Your first 25 round-trip miles and first 30 minutes of travel are included. Additional mileage costs $0.79 per mile beyond 25 miles, and additional travel time costs $0.60 per minute beyond 30 minutes. The two allowances are calculated separately. Trips of 100 miles or more, or 120 minutes or more, require an individual quote. Your appointment total is shown before payment.

Question 9

If more than one appointment-time charge applies, will I pay both?

Accepted Answer

No. Only the highest applicable appointment-time charge applies. Early-morning and evening visits are +$20, weekend visits are +$30, and same-day requests are +$25. These charges never stack.

When is my appointment confirmed?

Accepted Answer

Your booking status will show whether your appointment is confirmed or awaiting review. Some requests require a team review before confirmation, including same-day requests. Payment alone does not mean a pending request has been confirmed. Check your booking status and confirmation email, or contact us if you’re unsure.

Does my Stumptown payment cover laboratory testing charges?

Usually not. Your Stumptown payment covers the collection and other services included in your booking. Outside laboratory testing is generally billed separately by the performing laboratory. Some services, including specific Stumptown point-of-care tests and SneakPeek Clinical, include testing in the advertised price.

Can I get a superbill, and do you bill my insurance?

Stumptown is a direct-pay service and does not bill health insurance for the mobile collection fee. We can provide a superbill for our collection service on request — email hello@stumptownlabservices.com or use the contact form and choose "Superbill request." Reimbursement is determined by your health plan and is not guaranteed, and a superbill does not cover charges from the performing laboratory. If the laboratory will bill your insurance for testing, you can provide insurance information for your laboratory documentation; if you are paying the laboratory directly, you do not need to.

Do I need to fast before my blood draw?

There is no universal fasting requirement. Fasting depends on the specific tests ordered, so follow the instructions provided by your ordering provider, laboratory, or test-kit manufacturer. If you are unsure, check with your provider before your appointment.

How long will my appointment take?

Accepted Answer

Most routine blood-draw visits take about 5–10 minutes. Specialty services, multiple collections, or additional preparation and handling may take longer.

Can you help if I have needle anxiety, sensory sensitivities, or a history of difficult blood draws?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We understand that blood draws can be stressful, especially for patients with needle anxiety, sensory sensitivities, or past difficult experiences. Tell us what has helped you feel more comfortable in the past, whether that's extra explanation, communication preferences, or a little more time before starting. We'll discuss what we can reasonably accommodate. We cannot guarantee a painless or successful collection.

Do you offer accommodations if I need help accessing your services?

What ages do you see?

Accepted Answer

Routine blood draws are available for children age 10 and older, subject to clinical suitability. For children under 10, we begin with a $25 vein assessment to determine whether a blood draw may be attempted. If the assessment is favorable, we may attempt the collection during the same visit. The $25 assessment fee is credited toward the collection charge only when the assessment is favorable and the blood draw is completed during that same visit. If collection is not attempted or is unsuccessful, the assessment fee remains due. An assessment does not guarantee a collection attempt or successful draw. To arrange an assessment, please call (971) 204-6819. Online blood-draw booking is not available for children under 10. This age rule applies to blood draws; other services follow their own eligibility requirements.

Question 18

Do I need an order from my provider?

It depends on the service. Most routine blood draws and laboratory specimen collections require a current provider order. For test-kit collections, have all orders and requisitions required by your kit or laboratory ready before your visit. Therapeutic phlebotomy requires a provider order and signed consent. SneakPeek Clinical and rapid non-DOT drug screening do not require a provider order. If an order is required, you can upload it during booking, have your provider fax it to (971) 200-8669, or contact orders@stumptownlabservices.com for email submission instructions. If you plan to bring a paper order, contact us before your appointment. The Client Portal supports organizational bookings, not provider order submission or patient results.

Question 19

How should I share health information with you?

Please don't include diagnoses, test results, or other private medical information in general website contact forms or ordinary email. Your provider's order normally includes the clinical information needed for collection. If we need anything else, we'll explain how to share it securely.

Question 20

Can every lab test be collected at home?

Accepted Answer

No. Some tests require special timing, equipment, processing, temperature control, collection materials, or laboratory procedures. We review the requirements associated with your order or test kit to confirm the collection can be completed appropriately through our mobile service.

Question 21

Who gives me my results?

Accepted Answer

For most blood draws and specimen collections, the laboratory performs the testing and sends results to your ordering provider. Stumptown does not routinely receive or interpret those results. Some services work differently: for PT/INR PLUS Fingerstick, we perform the INR test during your visit and report the result to your ordering office; for SneakPeek Clinical, SneakPeek sends the result directly to you; drug-screen result timing depends on the screening test used; and for Autologous Serum Tears, we prepare your prescribed serum tears rather than providing a laboratory test result.

What drug-testing panels do you offer?

Stumptown offers directly observed non-DOT rapid urine screens: 5-panel $79, 13-panel $99, and 15-panel $119. Results are presumptive screening only, not laboratory-confirmed. We do not provide MRO review or make employment decisions.

How quickly are drug-screening results available?

Accepted Answer

Result timing depends on the screening test used. These are initial screening results, not laboratory-confirmed results.

What happens if my rapid drug screen is non-negative?

A non-negative rapid screen may require additional laboratory testing when a confirmed result is needed. Stumptown does not provide laboratory confirmation or Medical Review Officer (MRO) review.

Where can I find device and panel details?

The Drug Testing page has expandable panel details. Confirm that the selected screen meets your requester’s requirements; a rapid screen is not laboratory confirmation.

Do you offer DOT drug testing?

Accepted Answer

No. Stumptown currently provides non-DOT drug-testing services only. We do not perform DOT-regulated drug testing.

Do I need a lab order for a rapid drug test?

Accepted Answer

No provider lab order is required for Stumptown's individual rapid drug-testing service. If an employer, school, court, program, or other organization requested your test, confirm its specific testing requirements before booking.

What days are test-kit collections available?

Accepted Answer

Test-kit collections are available Monday through Thursday, with no collections after 3 p.m. on Thursday. Your kit’s shipping requirements may require an earlier appointment.

How should I prepare my test kit?

Accepted Answer

Have every kit component ready before your visit. If your kit requires frozen ice packs, follow the kit instructions and make sure the packs have been frozen for at least 24 hours before your appointment. Complete all patient paperwork in advance, including any required insurance, billing, consent, or payment information — payment details belong on the kit paperwork, not in our website’s general contact form. If patient labels are provided, your name and date of birth must be correct and match your paperwork. When a blood draw is included, Stumptown completes the blood-draw collector fields.

Question 30

Who handles shipping, and is postage included?

With Collection only, you package and ship the kit. With Test-kit collection with processing & shipment, Stumptown handles required processing, packaging, and delivery to the required carrier. If your kit does not include prepaid postage, postage costs extra. We pay the shipping cost upfront and send you an invoice you can pay online.

What if my kit isn't ready when the phlebotomist arrives?

An incomplete or improperly prepared kit is treated as a missed appointment. Payment is forfeited and a new appointment and payment are required. The exceptions and discretionary provisions in our cancellation policy still apply.

Question 32

How does PT/INR PLUS pricing work?

Accepted Answer

Both options require a provider order. The first eligible visit is $59. The $39 repeat rate applies when the same patient has an earlier completed, eligible PT/INR PLUS visit in the same Pacific-time calendar month. Upcoming or incomplete appointments do not qualify. Both finger-stick and venous blood-draw visits count. Fingerstick results are available during the visit; venous blood-draw results come from the performing laboratory. Stumptown does not change medication doses. Travel and appointment-time charges apply only when applicable.

How do I view or change my appointment?

Use the link in your confirmation email or call us to reschedule, update details, or cancel. Have your appointment date and the patient's name ready so we can find it quickly.

Question 34

What is your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

At least 24 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule without charge — this gives us time to release the appointment slot for another patient. Less than 24 hours is a late cancellation and fees already incurred may be non-refundable. Once a phlebotomist is dispatched (has departed for your appointment), the collection fee plus any Travel Fee and appointment-time charge are earned and non-refundable for client-side reasons such as a no-show, missing ID or required paperwork, or denied access. If Stumptown causes the paid service not to be delivered — for example, missing necessary equipment — you may choose a free replacement visit or a refund; an unsuccessful draw by itself is not automatically a Stumptown error. Stumptown may waive or reduce applicable fees in compassionate circumstances, as described in the full policy.

Question 35

Can a phlebotomist decline to perform a collection?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If the phlebotomist reasonably believes the environment is unsafe, unsanitary, or unsuitable, the appointment can be stopped or cancelled. If a phlebotomist was already dispatched, the appointment is non-refundable.

Question 36

What if Stumptown cancels?

Accepted Answer

If we cancel for weather, staff illness, an emergency, or another issue within our control, you get a full refund or a rescheduled visit at no charge, your choice. If we cause a dispatched visit to fail — for example, by arriving without necessary equipment — you may choose a replacement visit at no extra charge or a refund.
