Your guide to a Stumptown visit

How to prepare, what to expect at your appointment, how results reach you, and what it costs — whether you’re booking for yourself or for someone you care for.

Know what to expect before your visit.

When you book, we'll guide you through the information needed for your visit, any preparation instructions, and your complete price before payment.

  • Your complete price is itemized before payment — base service, Travel Fee, and any appointment-time charge.
  • Preparation reminders are shown at booking and repeated in your confirmation.
  • Order status is visible at every stage: needed, received, in review, and ready.
  • A trained phlebotomist arrives at your confirmed appointment time and confirms your identity.
  • We deliver, process, or ship your specimen according to your order.

Stumptown collects, prepares, transports, ships, and performs the CLIA-waived point-of-care services we specifically identify. Laboratory testing and laboratory-result reporting remain with the performing laboratory, which reports results to the ordering provider. See how travel and appointment-time charges work.

Booking for someone else? Enter their information as the patient and list yourself as the booking contact. The patient, the booking contact, and the payer can be different people. Consent must still come from the patient or a person authorized to consent for them.

Mobile collection

Lab work that works around your life.

Mobile collection is available to anyone who meets the requirements for their selected service. Visits at your location can be especially helpful for older adults, people with disabilities or mobility limitations, and people with weakened immune systems.

Make an Appointment
  • Fasting or before-work draws

Schedule an early-morning mobile appointment and complete your collection before the rest of your day begins.

  • Older adults & mobility needs

Collection at home or an appropriate care setting can reduce unnecessary travel for patients who find getting to a laboratory difficult.

  • Busy workdays

We can come to an appropriate workplace location when leaving during the day isn't convenient.

  • Specialty test kits

Have a kit that requires professional collection, processing, or shipment? We can help coordinate the collection according to the kit instructions.

  • Simply prefer home

You don't need a medical reason to choose mobile collection. Sometimes having a trained professional come to you is simply more convenient.

Tell us what would help

If you have access needs, communication preferences, needle anxiety, or other concerns about your collection, tell us when you book or call us. We’ll discuss what we can do to make the visit easier, though we can’t guarantee every request.

Children

Routine blood draws are available for children age 10 and older, subject to clinical suitability. For children under 10, we begin with a $25 vein assessment to determine whether a blood draw may be attempted. If the assessment is favorable, we may attempt the collection during the same visit. When collection is completed, the $25 assessment fee is credited toward the collection charge. If collection is not attempted or is unsuccessful, the assessment fee remains due. An assessment does not guarantee a collection attempt or successful draw. To arrange an assessment, please call (971) 204-6819. Online blood-draw booking is not available for children under 10.

For blood-draw services, a parent or guardian’s signature can satisfy the identification requirement for a child who does not have photo ID. This exception does not apply to drug testing.

Your order

How to send your order

Order requirements depend on the service you select. Most blood draws require an order from your healthcare provider; some test kits include their own paperwork; rapid non-DOT drug screening does not require a provider order.

Attach a PDF or photo of your provider's order in the booking flow.

Fax it to us

Preparation

Before your appointment

A little preparation can help your appointment go smoothly. Your booking and confirmation list the steps that apply to the service you chose.

Have your photo ID ready

Have a government-issued photo ID available so your phlebotomist can confirm the identity of the person being tested.

Follow your test instructions

Follow any fasting, medication, timing, or other preparation instructions provided by your ordering provider, laboratory, or test-kit manufacturer.

Stay hydrated when appropriate

Unless your provider or laboratory has instructed you otherwise, being normally hydrated may help make a blood draw easier.

Make sure we have your order when required

For services requiring a provider order or prescription, make sure the applicable documentation has been submitted before the appointment.

Have your test kit and paperwork ready

If you booked a test-kit collection, have the complete kit ready before your appointment. Complete all patient-supplied paperwork in advance, including any insurance, billing, consent, or credit-card information required by the kit or laboratory. If your kit includes patient labels, make sure your name and date of birth are correct and match your paperwork. Your phlebotomist completes collection-specific details, such as collection date, time, and collector information. Do not send credit-card details through ordinary website forms. Have all orders and requisitions required by your kit or laboratory ready before your visit.

Follow the requesting organization's instructions

Follow any instructions associated with the organization requesting your test, if applicable. No fasting is required for a rapid urine drug screen.

Wear a short-sleeve shirt or sleeves that can be rolled up easily.
Keep pets secured and clear a small table or counter for setup.

When we arrive

When your phlebotomist arrives, they'll confirm your identity and review the collection requirements before starting.

Depending on the service, they will:

  • Review your lab order or test-kit instructions.
  • Prepare a clean collection area and supplies.
  • Confirm which samples are needed.
  • Perform the collection.
  • Label and handle specimens as required.
  • Complete the necessary collection records.
  • Prepare your specimen for delivery, processing, or shipment.

How long will my appointment take?

Most routine visits take about 5–10 minutes. Specialty visits may take longer, depending on the service, number of samples, and collection requirements.

You'll choose an available appointment time during booking. Please allow enough time for your collection and any required specimen handling.

Afterward

After your collection

Handling depends on your service. Blood draws are delivered according to your order and the agreed laboratory. With a test-kit collection only, you package and ship the kit yourself; with processing & shipment, we process, package, and ship it. Not every service includes office processing or shipping.

Your results

How you receive results depends on your service.

  • Blood draws sent to an outside laboratory: The laboratory performs the testing and reports results to your ordering provider.
  • SneakPeek Clinical: SneakPeek provides your result directly to you. Stumptown does not perform the analysis.
  • PT/INR PLUS Fingerstick: This is point-of-care testing performed by Stumptown: you receive the INR result at the visit and your ordering office receives it as well.
  • Autologous Serum Tears: This service produces your prescribed serum tears rather than a laboratory test result. Your prescribing provider directs how they are used.
  • Rapid Drug Testing: Result timing depends on the screening test used. Non-negative rapid screening results are presumptive and may require laboratory confirmation when definitive results are needed.

Stumptown currently provides non-DOT drug-testing services only. DOT-regulated drug testing is not offered.

Where we can visit

We can collect samples at more than just your home. Depending on your service and the location, we may be able to visit your workplace, a care facility, or another suitable private setting within our service area.

  • Home
  • Workplace

Some facilities have their own access, visitor, or specimen-collection requirements. Please provide any relevant arrival instructions when booking — booking asks for them on the Location step.

Can every lab test be collected at home?

Not every laboratory test is suitable for mobile collection. Some tests require special timing, equipment, processing, temperature control, collection materials, or laboratory procedures.

We review the collection requirements associated with your order or test kit to determine whether the collection can be completed appropriately through our mobile service.

Understanding your costs

Stumptown service fee

Your Stumptown fee covers the collection service provided by Stumptown Mobile Lab Services. Payment is made directly to Stumptown, and we do not bill your health insurance for this fee.

Laboratory charges

Outside-laboratory testing may be billed separately, depending on your service. SneakPeek laboratory testing and PT/INR PLUS finger-stick testing are included in their listed service prices. When applicable, you may provide insurance information for inclusion with your laboratory documentation. Coverage, deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and other patient responsibility are determined by the laboratory and your health plan.

Need a superbill?

Stumptown can provide a superbill for our collection service upon request. Reimbursement is determined by your health plan and is not guaranteed.

Your Stumptown payment covers the services shown in your booking, including applicable specimen handling or processing, travel, and appointment-time charges.

Your first 25 round-trip miles and first 30 minutes of travel are included. Additional mileage is $0.79 per mile beyond 25 miles, and additional travel time is $0.60 per minute beyond 30 minutes. These allowances are calculated separately. Appointment-time charges apply only when you select an eligible premium time.

Included testing

SneakPeek laboratory testing and PT/INR PLUS finger-stick testing are included in their listed prices. Autologous Serum Tears prices include your blood draw, preparation, and return delivery.

Policies

Cancellations and rescheduling

These terms are shown again before you pay, and your confirmation repeats them.

  • At least 24 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule without charge.
  • Less than 24 hours' notice is a late cancellation, and fees already incurred may be non-refundable.
  • Once a phlebotomist is dispatched — has departed for your appointment — the collection fee plus any Travel Fee and appointment-time charge are earned and non-refundable for client-side reasons.
  • Client-side reasons include a client cancellation after dispatch, a no-show or client unavailability, a declined collection, missing identification, a missing required order or paperwork, an unavailable participant, or denied access.
  • Stumptown may stop or cancel an appointment if the phlebotomist reasonably believes the environment is unsafe, unsanitary, or unsuitable. If this happens after dispatch, the appointment is non-refundable.
  • If Stumptown causes the paid service not to be delivered — for example, the phlebotomist arrives without necessary equipment — you may choose a replacement visit at no extra charge or a refund. An unsuccessful draw by itself is not automatically a Stumptown error.
  • If Stumptown cancels for weather, staff illness, an emergency, or another issue within our control, you get a full refund or a rescheduled visit at no charge, your choice.
  • Stumptown may, in its sole discretion, waive or reduce an otherwise applicable cancellation, rescheduling, or late fee in compassionate circumstances, including acute medical emergency, patient hospitalization, death in the immediate family, or another documented emergency.
