Before booking a drug screen, it helps to understand what a rapid screen can report and how it differs from laboratory confirmation. If someone has requested your test, first confirm which service and documentation they require.
Non-DOT only
We do not perform DOT-regulated testing
Every drug-testing service we offer is non-DOT. If your situation requires a DOT-regulated collection, you will need a DOT-qualified collection site.
Understanding a screening result
A rapid urine drug screen checks for the substances or drug groups included in the selected panel. It provides a screening result, rather than laboratory confirmation.
A non-negative result suggests that a substance may be present and needs laboratory confirmation before being treated as a confirmed positive. A negative result does not rule out every substance or all prior use. Results depend on what the test screens for, its detection thresholds and when the sample is collected.
When laboratory confirmation is needed
A non-negative screening result should be confirmed by a laboratory before it is relied on for a consequential decision. Confirmation uses a more specific laboratory method to evaluate the substances being tested.
Laboratory confirmation is arranged separately and is not included in the listed rapid-screen price. Before booking, confirm with the requesting organization who will arrange any required confirmation, medical review and result reporting. Laboratory turnaround times vary.
Choosing a panel
Stumptown offers 5-, 13- and 15-panel screening options. Before choosing, confirm the specific substances and documentation required by the person or organization requesting your test.
A panel number alone does not tell you whether a test meets those requirements. A broader panel does not make a screening result laboratory-confirmed.
How the visit works
We verify your identity and collect the urine sample under direct observation. This means a staff member watches you provide the sample.
Result timing depends on the screening test used. Any required laboratory confirmation is a separate step.
Common questions
- Does a non-negative screen mean a confirmed positive?
- No. A non-negative screen is preliminary and should be confirmed by a laboratory before being treated as a confirmed positive.
- How soon will I receive the result?
- Result timing depends on the screening test used. If laboratory confirmation is needed, it has a separate turnaround time.
- Which panel should I choose?
- Confirm the required substances and documentation with the requesting organization before booking. Contact us if you need help matching those requirements to an available service.
- Is laboratory confirmation included?
- No. Laboratory confirmation is arranged separately and is not included in the listed rapid-screen price.
This guide explains screening and confirmation. It does not determine whether a test meets an employer’s or another organization’s requirements. Confirm those requirements before booking.
