Scheduled participant visits
We coordinate appointment times around the collection windows required by your study.
Research & clinical studies
We help research teams coordinate blood draws and specimen collections at participants' homes, approved locations, or study sites throughout the Portland area. Whether your study uses mobile visits, a combination of onsite and mobile visits, or scheduled collections at a research site, we work with your team to follow the approved collection instructions.
Participant-centered collection
When your study allows mobile collection, we can visit participants at home or another approved location within our service area. Your study team provides the collection requirements, and we coordinate visits around those instructions.

Collections follow the written instructions approved for your study.
Before collections begin, assigned personnel review the study's collection, kit, processing, and handling requirements.
We coordinate the processing, packaging, delivery, or shipment requirements included in the approved program.

Who we support
We work with research organizations to determine whether their study's collection needs, participant locations, and handling requirements fit the services we can support.
Clinical research sites and study coordinators
Contract research organizations (CROs)
Pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations
Academic and investigator-led research programs
Protocol first
Your study team establishes the protocol, collection schedule, and clinical requirements. We review the written instructions and work with your team to plan the collection, specimen handling, documentation, and delivery services we can safely support.
Your study team defines the protocol, clinical requirements, and collection schedule. Stumptown provides the collection and handling services agreed for the program. We do not design research protocols or act as the study sponsor, investigator, or performing laboratory.
Program planning
Before accepting a study, we review its requirements, locations, scheduling needs, staffing, and specimen-handling instructions to confirm that we can support the program.
Step 1
Share your study's collection requirements, participant locations, expected number of visits, collection schedule, and any test-kit or specimen-handling instructions. Please do not include participant names or health information.
Step 2
Our team reviews the collection procedures, timing, processing, transport, documentation, and personnel needs to determine whether the program fits our capabilities.
Step 3
If we can support your study, we work with your team to confirm the service scope, pricing, scheduling, collection instructions, and communication plan before visits begin.
Step 4
Our team carries out scheduled collections according to the approved workflow and study requirements.
Collection and handling
We review the collection, processing, storage, and transport requirements for each study before accepting the work. Available services depend on the written program scope and the equipment, staffing, and transport arrangements we can confirm for that study.
Blood collection using the tube types and draw order specified by the protocol, order, or designated laboratory.
Single or multiple collections coordinated around written study-defined times or intervals.
Centrifugation when required by the laboratory, kit, or study protocol and supported by the collection workflow.
Transferring part of a prepared sample into another tube or vial when required.
Refrigerated handling when required by the study instructions and supported by the agreed storage and transport arrangements.
Frozen handling only when the approved protocol requires it and equipment, temperature monitoring, storage, and transport capability have been verified for the written program scope.
Completing the preparation steps required by a specialty test kit before shipment.
Packaging samples according to laboratory or test-kit instructions.
Delivering eligible samples to the designated local laboratory or provider location.
Shipment according to approved kit or study instructions when supported by the collection workflow.
Stumptown collects, prepares, and transports research specimens within the agreed program scope. The designated laboratory performs laboratory analysis, and the laboratory and study team manage study results. Stumptown does not interpret or report study results.
Participant experience
Participants can have samples collected at home or another approved location when their study permits mobile visits.
Visits are arranged around the study's required collection times and the participant's schedule.
Trained collection professionals follow the approved study instructions and collection procedures.
Mobile visits can reduce the need for participants to travel to a research site solely for specimen collection.
Service area
We provide mobile specimen collection throughout our established Portland-region service area. Before scheduling a study, we review participant locations, travel requirements, specimen stability, and delivery or shipping needs to confirm that the collection plan is workable.
Research inquiry
Tell us about your study's collection needs, participant locations, scheduling requirements, and specimen handling. We'll review the details with your team to determine whether Stumptown can support the program.
Submitting an inquiry starts our review. It does not create an agreement, confirm a research program, or schedule participant appointments.
Research programs are quoted individually based on collection locations, participant volume, visit frequency, scheduling, and specimen-processing and transport requirements.
Related: timed & serial collections and mobile specimen collection.
Research collection support is tailored to the study's approved operational requirements and Stumptown's service area.
